Important Road Closure Information – The east leg of Route 30 at Route 59 will be closed to all through traffic beginning Tuesday, September 7th at 6:00 am through October 7th at 7 pm, weather permitting. This closure will allow for the expedited reconstruction of the intersection. The detour route will utilize Renwick Road and Route 59. For more details, read today's press release.

Route 126/Main Street, from Des Plaines Street to Lockport Street, will be closed beginning next week for the construction of the Main Street Water Main project. The detour route will follow Route 59 north to 143rd Street to Wallin Drive south. The roadway is scheduled to reopen by October 30. Local traffic (homes, businesses, etc) will have access throughout the project.

The Police Department will be participating in the DEA's Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on September 25 from 10 am – 2 pm. For more information, click here to read the event press release.

On Tuesday, September 7 at 7:00 pm, check out the Plainfield Public Library District’s program on Traveling the Lincoln Highway. It’s a chance to step back in time with presenter David Clark as he takes you on a virtual tour of the first automobile trail marked from coast-to-coast. To enhance the presentation, the Library has the traveling Lincoln Highway display set up on the main floor of the Library. Registration is requested via www.plainfield.lib.il.us or call (815) 327-2515. The program will take place at the Plainfield Public Library, 15025 S. Illinois Street.

As a reminder, next Monday is Labor Day, the Village Offices will be closed and the Village Board does not have a meeting. The agenda for the Plan Commission has been posted online and the Historic Preservation Commission Meeting originally scheduled for September 9th has been cancelled.
