Art in the Park: The Plainfield Art League will host a free art show, Art in the Park, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 5 at Village Green Park. The park, at Chicago and Fox River streets near downtown Plainfield, will host area artists who create fine art in many mediums.

The Village of Plainfield and Plainfield Park District will be showing Dennis The Menace on Friday, August 21, at 8:00 p.m., in Settlers’ Park at the Richard A. Rock Amphitheater. Dennis The Menace is a comedy, starring Walter Matthau and Christopher Lloyd, which is rated PG and has a run time of 92 minutes.

Bring some popcorn and enjoy a movie under the stars! Settlers’ Park is located in downtown Plainfield, southeast of the intersection of Lockport Street and Van Dyke Road and just south of the Village Hall. Parking is available in the Village Hall Parking Lot, on Village Center Drive, and on Van Dyke Road. Terraced seating is available. Attendees are also encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets. If inclement weather is forecast, the movie will be cancelled. Visit the Village web site, www.plainfield-il.org, to take the new community web poll.
As part of the Village’s economic development efforts, the Village is asking residents: “What new recreation/entertainment destination would you most like to see in Plainfield?” Voters can then select their choice from a variety of options including a movie theater, restaurant/arcade, golf course, roller skating, miniature golf, and others.
The Planning Department will utilize the results of the poll to help recruit new recreational and entertainment destinations for Plainfield. The recreation/entertainment destination poll takes only a minute and will be available online through Friday, September 11th. Voice your choice today!

It’s Kung Fu in the park! The Kung Fu Panda is an animated movie, featuring the voices of Jack Black, Jackie Chan, and Angelina Jolie, which is rated PG and has a run time of 92 minutes.
