Drivers should expect delays and designated detour routes will be posted on Route 59, Route 30, and I-55.  The Route 126 interchange will remain open; however, the semi-trucks will be detoured to the Route 30 exit.  Illuminated message boards will be installed along I-55 to notify motorists that “No Trucks” will be permitted on Route 126 and that only local traffic should utilize the Route 126 exit.  Motorists that utilize Essington Road will be encouraged to continue north to 127th Street.

In conjunction with the Route 126 closure, Canadian National will also be closing the Plainfield/Naperville Road railroad crossing on Monday, July 27th between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.  These closures are necessary to reconstruct and improve the existing railroad crossings.

While these closures will cause increased congestion on roadways throughout the Village, residents and drivers are encouraged to be patient and follow detour routes as marked.

To help traffic flow during this time, the Downtown Plainfield Cruise Night scheduled for Tuesday, July 28th has been cancelled.  Cruise Nights will resume on Tuesday, August 4th for the remainder of the summer.
