Students in middle school and high school can compete to see who’s the strongest at POWER Camp’s second Plainfield’s Strongest Athlete Competition on Saturday, July 21.

Manager Mike Wagner said the facility, 14411 Coil Plus Dr., specializes in speed training, weightlifting and strongman power classes.

Teens and middle schoolers ages 9 and up will have the chance to compete in several categories and weight divisions during the July 21 event.

“It’s basically a mini-strongman event,” Wagner said.

The competition will kick off with weigh-ins from 8 to 9 a.m.

High school students will compete by grade level, while middle schoolers will compete by category:

  • Lightweights – 11-year-olds, 110 pounds and under; 9-10-year-olds, unlimited
  • Middleweights – 11-year-olds, unlimited; 12-13-year-olds up to 125 pounds.
  • Heavyweights – above 125 pounds

Events include the trap bar deadlift, tire flip, clean and press, load medley and farmer walk.

Entry fee is $20 in advance or $30 the day of the event. All participants will receive T-shirts. Payments are non-refundable, and participants are asked to bring their high school ID or birth certificate.

Wagner said he and his team of coaches will be on site to judge the event and make sure safety rules are followed.
