Teen Performer Wrote Song for Soldiers’ Kids

When the Wounded Warrior 5K Run is held in Plainfield’s Settlers’ Park on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend, 13-year-old Keegan Eich of Plainfield will be performing.

A reader who’s involved in the race sent us a link to a YouTube video of Keegan performing a song, “Alleluia,” which he wrote when he was 12.

In the video, Keegan says the piece is dedicated “to all of the children out there (whose) mom or dad are fighting for their country.”

The race starts at 8 a.m. and is being conducted by Operation Welcome You Home. The Wounded Warrior Project raises awareness and enlists the public’s aid for support the needs of injured service members, help injured service members assist each other and provide programs and services to meet the needs of injured service members.
