The Plainfield Police Department, working with Canadian National Railway police, will be conducting railroad crossing enforcement checks this week.

Among the ticketable offenses they’ll be looking for are drivers who disobey activated railroad signals or stop on top of train tracks or within the railroad crossing. They’ll also cite pedestrians who trespass on railroad right of way.

All violations mandate that the offender got to court and face fines of up to $750. Anyone convicted of stopping on the tracks will lose their license for 30 days.
