Plainfield East High School students, en route to a Michigan volleyball tournament, interrupted their trip when they saw money blowing along the side of the road on Interstate 294.
In was cash that a desperate bank robber was throwing from his car window as he attempted to elude police in a two-state chase that ended in Elburn in Kane County.
They gather up several thousand dollars, which they turned over to a police officer further down the road, according to a report published by ABC-TV (Channel 7).
“We picked up close to $5,000,” Marissa Villarubia was quoted as saying. “That was in a few minutes. There were 20s everywhere.”
