CONNECT-ED MESSAGE SENT AT 7 P.M. AUGUST 24, 2009
Good evening, this is District 202 Director of Community Relations Tom Hernandez with important information for all of our families and staff. This entire message is posted on the front page of our web site (www.psd202.org)
This summer, you may have heard that the federal government is predicting an outbreak of the H1N1 flu this fall and winter. District 202 is already preparing for such an outbreak.
Tomorrow, all pre-kindergarten, elementary and middle school students will receive a letter from the superintendent outlining key information about our plans to deal with the H1N1 virus in our schools. Please look for it. We want to make sure you get this important information.
The letter, in both English and Spanish, is also posted on the front page of the District 202 web site for everyone, most especially our High School families to read and download.
Finally, we hope you had a wonderful summer break, and wish you a great 2009-2010
school year.

In order to maintain a sufficient amount of water for drinking and fire protection the Village of Plainfield enacted a year round ordinance that allows outside water use as follows:
- Lawn sprinkling for even numbered addresses on even numbered calendar days between the hours of 6am to 10am and/or 6pm and 10pm.
- Lawn sprinkling for odd numbered addresses on odd numbered calendar days between the hours of 6am to 10am and/or 6pm and 10pm.
- The watering of gardens, trees, shrubs and flowers (by use of a hand held hose or watering can) is permitted any time.
Water Violation Penalties
The first violation at a residence receives a warning notice. After a residence receives a second warning notice, a $50.00 fine is generated and sent to the home by the Police Department.
Watering New Sod or Seed
- The first day sod or seed is planted the property owner may water sod or seed for any eight (8) hours.
- For the next nine (9) days, the property owner may water the sod or seed every day between the hours of 6:00-10:00 a.m. and 6:00-10:00 p.m.
- Following the first ten (10) days, the odd/even watering restrictions apply. If you have underground sprinklers installed, please advise the contractor of these times so the timers may be set for the appropriate days and times.
Planting New Sod or Seed
Residents planting sod and/or seed should consider having the installation completed before July 1. Both sod and seed require a great deal of watering and to help conserve water and save money, it is recommended that they not be planted during the hottest part of the summer, generally
July and August. If installation is not possible before July 1, you may wish to wait until after September 1.

A short sale is a sale of real estate in which the proceeds from the sale fall short of the balance owed on a loan secured by the property sold. In a short sale, the bank or mortgage lender agrees to discount a loan balance because of an economic or financial hardship on the part of the mortgagor. A short sale typically is executed to prevent a home foreclosure, but the decision to proceed with a short sale is predicated on the most economic way for the bank to recover the amount owed on the property.
If you want more information about short sales in the Plainfield area, or are wondering about the costs involved in listing your house as a short sale, check out www.livinginplainfield.com and the article: How much does it cost to list my house if it’s a short sale? | Plainfield IL Homes
